Karjat is attracting people who lives in Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Navi Mumbai as a weekend destination. It’s an ideal place for adventure sports and swimming. It’s near from Mumbai and Thane Region. Karjat is well known spot for weekend holidays fun such as trekking, hiking and river rafting. It’s favorite destination of all of us during rainy season.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) was notified Karjat few years back, Authority also proposed a golf course and 20-20 league playground in the area. Karjat is also emerging as shooting destination, After the Oscar Award winning movie Slumdog Millionaire was shot here and Hollywood production companies including Walt Disney, Twentieth Century Fox and Dreamworks with Reliance Big Studio are also working on their plan of setting up a studio.

Karjat is the place which is easily reachable from Mumbai (64 Km), Navi Mumbai (42 Km), Pune (92 Km), Thane (60 Km). Kalyan and Kasara Ghat are located on one side and Panvel, Neral and Badlapur are located on other side of Karjat. National Highway NH 3, NH 17 and NH 4 are also near from Karjat.The area is also connected to Mumbai’s railway network. Karjat Railway station is a major rail terminus connected via local trains to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) in Mumbai, Khopoli and Panvel. It takes 1 hour 40 minutes to reach Mumbai from Karjat via local trains.     

The land prices in Karjat are continuously increasing due to rapid infrastructure development. And easy accessibility from Mumbai-Pune and the proposed Karjat-Neral-Navi Mumbai is making, the most preferred commercial and residential destination. The current rates of real estate market are affordable (Rs.2500-3500 per sq ft). In future the Karjat has high potential when the four-lane state highway 38 ( chowk to Karjat) will operational, which will reduce the travel time between Mumbai and Karjat.

Upcoming projects in MMR, Trans Harbor link between Sewri, Navi Mumbai and Mumbai are proposed to reduce the time and distance between these cities and to make the fast and efficient connectivity to Karjat. Also the switch over of Badlapur-Neral-Karjat road from two-lane to a four-lane highway will eliminate the connectivity problem for commercial sector.
