After launching WhatsApp for Jio Phone and Jio Phone 2, WhatsApp is now working on new features for its Android and iPhone users, includes WhatsApp dark mode, swipe to Reply, preview media from notifications and more.
Currently, WhatsApp is working on these features. Some of them are available in the latest beta version for Android 2.18.282.
New Feature: WhatsApp Dark Mode
The most awaited feature for WhatsApp users is WhatsApp Dark Mode. After Twitter and YouTube, WhatsApp is now going to roll out Dark mode. Where users can set a dark theme mode, during night time use which is more easy on eyes. Dark mode is also helpful for saving your battery life. Smartphone with OLED displays like Samsung Galaxy Note9, S9, iPhone X and others will be able to save their battery life. In OLED display every pixel can be turned on/off, hence a dark mode can help save battery life for heavy users of app.
New Feature: Swipe to Reply gesture
This feature is confirmed by the online publications and is anticipated to arrive via server-side update. In current WhatsApp to give reply on particular message we need to long press on that message and then choose reply from header space, which is difficult for large screen device. With new feature simply swipe right on the particular message to reply. Currently this feature is available only for iOS users.
New Feature: Preview media from the notification bar
This feature is currently available for beta users, using this feature user can preview the received media from notification bar directly. You can get a quick look of a image and video in notification bar. However beta users also have an option to mark as read for a message from the notification bar.
New Feature: Expandable group info
This feature is made for groups, Now the WhatsApp has added a new button “More” on its beta version for group members. This new features shows a list of ten group members and if you want to see the entire list, then you can simply tap on the “more” button.
