One of the 36 districts in Maharashtra is Ratnagiri, situated on the coast-line of the Arabian sea that lies on the west of Ratnagiri. Under the department of Fisheries, the Marine Biological Research Station was establish in 1958 at Ratnagiri.It has a well equipped “Aquarium and Museum”, with modern brackish water fish farm, Mechanized Fishing and Research Vessel, Seed Production Facilities and various laboratories. Thus giving rise to great opportunities in occupation and education introducing new technologies in fish production , transferrinf to fish culturists, entrepreneurs and the industry.
