Raipur is the largest city in and the capital of Chhattisgarh, India. Formerly a part of Madhya Pradesh before the state Chattisgarh separated, has its existence since 9th century. One of the ancient landmark is Hatkeshwar Mahadev temple known to be constructed by Brahmdeo Rai during 1402 A.D. at the banks of river Kharun. Raipur has metropolis area of 226 sq.km with population of 1,010,087. Raipur is sometimes referred as the “rice bowl of India” since varieties of rice are grown here.
