Bandra is one of the most affluent suburbs of western Mumbai . It is also called as the Queen of Suburb because of posh locality.It is home to many Bollywood and cricketing and influential political personalities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Sachin Tendulkar, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray,former Member of Parliament Priya Dutt, and BJP Mumbai President Ashish Shelar.
Bandra has become a preferred residential destination for the high-income group. The locality mostly consists of multi-storey apartments, which command a premium. The locality offers good connectivity to other parts of the city and easy access to social infrastructure. The location is relatively well connected to most of the major business centres. A plethora of restaurants offering various cuisines, pubs, bars, high-street stores, multiple neighborhood shops, hardware shops, vegetable markets, fish and meat market etc are all present within close proximity of the area. The locality has a very cosmopolitan feel. Earlier it was inhabited only by Christians. However, today it is home to Hindus, Parsis, Muslims etc. Schools and hospitals are also present in the locality. The average property price in Bandra West is Rs. 58,000 per sq.ft with minimum and maximum apartment price being Rs. 34,000 per sq.ft and Rs, 80,000 per sq.ft respectively. Prominence of a business district in Bandra Kurla Complex, Connectivity to Thane, South Mumbai and Navi Mumbai (via local trains and the Western Express Highway) are some of the prices that drive such high prices here. The region is served by a large network of BEST buses which connect it to almost all major areas. Bandra is well-connected to rest of Mumbai by both Central & Harbour Railways as well as various roads. The Bandra railway station is located on the Western line of Mumbai Suburban Railway and only 1.2 km away from Bandra West via Hill Road. Also, the newly built terminus called Bandra Terminus in Bandra (E) is in close proximity to Bandra West from where trains bound for northern and western India.
